Education

We work with our clients and design teams to create exceptional environments that increase students’ engagement and desire to learn. Our priorities are to build working relationships with end users and all stakeholders throughout the delivery process.

  • Liaison

We have dedicated staff who make sure that stakeholders are considered and kept informed. Our contracting team will always be sensitive to the needs of the local authorities, school leaders, governing bodies, teaching staff and, of course, the student body and their parents, particularly on a live site where building work has to be carried out alongside daily activities.

  • Environment

The physical environment of an education building is of the utmost importance, so that the health, safety and welfare needs of pupils are safeguarded, and the spaces are inspirational. Finnegan will provide learning environments that respect the past and yet are innovative and speak of the future.

  • Instructional technology

Equipment needs to be integrated into the fabric of the building, to be easily accessed and employed. There must be a balance between standardisation for easier use and maintenance, and the future need to upgrade, update, and add new capacities as technologies evolve. Every learning environment should be designed to accommodate computer and internet use.

  • Acoustics

Places of learning need to have good sound qualities – so that people can hear clearly, understand and concentrate on whatever activity they are involved in. Good design and good workmanship are essential for minimal disturbance from unwanted noise. Adjacent areas can have varying noise levels, not to mention the noise caused by mechanical plant installed within the building, all of which is carefully considered by our construction teams.
