Established in 1945 and based in Sheffield, we have been building throughout the UK for over 70 years.
We have a strong profile in South Yorkshire and are proud to be a key part in the regeneration of the Sheffield city region.
Our experience allows us to offer you invaluable advice at every stage. Working alongside consultants, we are qualified to comment on design and buildability and we have an in depth understanding of the life of a project. We know exactly what our clients need from us, every step of the way.
We create vibrant places to live, work and play. Partnering with local authorities, investors and other regeneration agencies, we’ve developed high-quality business and leisure sites in areas hard hit by the loss of traditional industries.
We have specialist expertise within the industrial and warehouse sector creating bespoke design and research, manufacturing, logistics and distribution facilities for high profile, world renowned clients as well as higher education organisations.
Our goal is to continue creating quality, modern developments that are commercially successful, whilst ensuring we meet high social and environmental standards. By doing this we will continue to make a long-lasting positive contribution to communities and end users.

SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT & QUALITY (SHEQ)
Health and Safety
The health and safety of our staff, partners and the wider community are integral to every business decision that we make. It is part of our core philosophy that a project is delivered safely, on time and on budget without anyone getting hurt, at any stage.
To support this commitment, we employ a full time SHEQ Manager, Robin Clark, and are accredited to UKAS OHSAS 18001:2007. This accreditation evidences best possible working conditions and workplace health and safety, aligned to internationally recognised best practice.
J F Finnegan’s absolute commitment to quality underpins everything we do, and this is reflected in our accreditation to UKAS ISO 9001:2015.
Beginning with senior management and extending to all employees, the development of quality systems, targets and objectives is a company-wide process. Employee involvement is an important part of the standard, which is why all our staff are trained within the ISO systems.
Environment and Sustainability
All of our buildings are designed around the principles of energy conservation, efficient operation and waste minimisation.
From the very first stages of a project sustainability is at the forefront of all decisions and we have developed a company policy that links our commitments under BREEAM with the overall aim of reducing our environmental impact. We’re also accredited to ISO 14001:2015 in Environmental Management.
We aim to use local resources where possible, and actively encourage development of the surrounding ecology during construction. Our strict waste targets, monitored from concept through to delivery, mean that 100% of our construction waste materials are now recycled.
